Commentary from a viewer:
"Ok. I stood at the entrance to the gallery and said to myself that I needed to purge your explanations of what you were after with the exhibit from my mind before I walked in the show. I needed to approach it fresh without the burden of commentary (read The Painted Word by Tom Wolfe). I walked in and was immediately warmed by a cocoon of orange fabric that created a meandering path. I thought I saw shape behind the cloth. I was pretty sure I saw light. It ushered me inward quite comfortably.

At the end another quite distinct experience, but oddly connected to the pathway. The flatland paintings were geometrically arranged; a very nice and unexpected compliment to the biological imagery in the paintings. I did not think I would like the white frames but they make sense in this environment.

Very, very nice."

Artist's Statement
"After over 50 years of looking at the 'real' world, I find that I'm much more interested in the worlds we can't see. Microscopic forms of life and the universe they inhabit are much more interesting for me these days. The design and forms in that world feel perfect. It's an environment that exists to provide a form for whatever function is needed ...elegant simplicity. I also enjoy exploring the hidden universe within my mind. Using surrealist automatist techniques and improvisational techniques, I can sometimes unlock the doors to that inner universe.

Without trying to analyze things too much, it also has to be fun - plain and simple. If it's not fun, if it doesn't somehow feel 'right', feel 'natural' - why put any energy into it at all?"
