My name is Phyllis Edholm Carper. I was born in Waukegan, Illinois a long, long time ago. My education was public and private schools with formal art lessons for 8 years. I have a Fine Arts degree from Lake Forest College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Evanston Hospital and Northwestern University in Illinois. I worked as a Registered Nurse for twenty years.

I served as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps from 1950-1954 in the Korean War. My husband of 54 years is LTC (Ret) Robert R. Carper. We had two children and have four grandchildren. We have lived in New Llano, Louisiana for 33 years.

In the 1970's and 80's I was quite active in our local art scene. I taught classes in various techniques and mediums. Many works were produced and sold locally.

At present I am semi-retired, but do art work for the Museum of West Louisiana and take occasional commissions if I find interest.

My art has always been a useful and important part of my life.
